*Poh-Chang Academy of Arts -

Poh-Chang Academy of Arts, formerly known as Poh-Chang School, is located on Tri Phet Road, Wang Burapha Phirom Sub-district, Phra Nakhon District, Bangkok Metropolitan. Red-black is the color of Poh-Chang. Poh-Chang School is an institute of art and crafts founded in the reign of King Rama VI on 7 January, 1913 when it is considered as the Poh-Chang School’s birthday which is the annual day for alumni reunion. At present, Poh-Chang has the full name that “Poh-Chang Academy of Arts, Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin.”

The name “Poh-Chang” was given by King Vajiravudh (Rama VI) on the occasion that His Majesty’s the King proceeded to open the school on 7 January, 1913 due to the celebration. Poh-Chang School was graciously bestowed by His Majesty King Rama VI because of the royal initiative of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) who cared about the art of Thai craftsmanship which was heavily influenced by foreign arts and cultures, especially the widespread of western arts and cultures. His Majesty was concerned that it could be fade away. As a result, His Majesty King Rama VI wished to preserve the Thai art of craftsmanship for permanent development. At present, Poh-Chang offers a 4-year undergraduate teaching program in the regular program under the Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin. There are 4 subject groups: national arts, arts and crafts, fine arts, and design.
